Monday Night Brewing General Manager - Monday Night Brewing (Proofing Co.) in Knoxville, Tennessee

Monday Night Brewing is an award-winning craft brewery based out of Atlanta, with a distribution footprint across Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina. We currently operate two taprooms in Atlanta, GA, a brewpub in Birmingham, AL, a taproom in Nashville, TN, a full-service taproom and kitchen in Charlotte, NC, and a taproom in Knoxville, TN. In our twelfth year of operation, we are proud to produce a vast portfolio—spanning from small batch New England IPAs to barrel-aged stouts, approachable kettle sours to mixed culture ambers, hop-forward West Coast IPAs to craft hard seltzers.

Monday Night Brewing seeks a taproom General Manager for our new Knoxville location - Monday Night Proofing Co. The General Manager will have primary responsibility for all business operations, including facilitating and living out the Monday Night culture, vision and vibe. Our Knoxville location features one dedicated taproom space, Scruff bar – a smaller pop-up bar, Market Bar – a vast and central bar within Kerns Food Hall, and High-Proof Loft – an upstairs bar overlooking the turf lawn. Each bar features its own curated drink list and required staff needs.

This is a full-time position, available immediately. This role will report to the Regional Manager of Hospitality.

High-Level Goals

  • Operate Knoxville-based taproom, Monday Night Proofing Co.

  • Maximize and grow taproom revenue (food, alcohol, merchandise and private events) and profit, with adherence to overall P&L budget goals.

  • Build, inspire and effectively lead a high-functioning taproom team that reflects the marketplace and our core values.

  • Develop and nurture a culture of teamwork and accountability, where guest experience is a priority.

Responsibilities:

People

  • With support from the People Operations Manager to oversee all hiring and onboarding of taproom staff for Monday Night Proofing Co.

  • Recruit, hire, lead and develop an engaged team, with a focus on hospitality, education, urgency and ownership. Build and maintain a culture that Monday Night Brewing is proud of.

  • Understand and ensure compliance with company policy and taproom regulations.

  • Understand and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local food, alcohol, and employment regulations.

Operations

  • Achieve revenue targets and adhere to expense and capital expenditures budgets.

  • Ensure compliance with all taproom Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and develop new SOPs as needed to ensure quality and consistency.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain all things tech: internet issues, POS system issues, AV (audio visual), etc.

  • Hold a high standard for building maintenance by ensuring all bar spaces and taproom are neat, clean and organized, and always in good condition.

  • Analyze and report timely KPIs. Identify challenges and/or opportunities and act upon them.

  • Work with Programming and Events Manager to develop and implement programming and incentives to drive sales.

  • Develop community engagement strategies that foster and deepen relationships.

  • Ensure administrative responsibilities are performed accurately and on deadline.

  • Direct ongoing and emergency maintenance and upkeep of the taproom, including cleaning, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, furniture, décor, draft lines, cooler and other equipment.

  • Partner with Marketing, Sales and Hospitality Operations Manager on beer releases, events, programming and hosting retail and distributor partners in taproom.

  • Promptly address guest concerns and complaints.

  • Ensure all promotional offers meet regulatory requirements.

  • Place a high priority on health and sanitation with a goal of keeping the health code at 94 or higher.

Social Media & Marketing

  • Ensure Programming and Events Coordinator is coordinating with taproom and marketing teams to create a weekly social media plan for social media accounts

  • Ensure Programming and Events Coordinator are content sourcing, providing photography, copy development and scheduling for Knoxville social media accounts

  • Assist with display development and execution for taproom marketing campaigns

  • Support and drive successful programming and events of Kerns Bakery alongside Events Coordinator and Kerns Bakery marketing team.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of bar or restaurant senior management experience, in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven track record of hiring, building, and growing strong and diverse teams.

  • Business acumen, including the ability to identify insights from P&L and KPIs to build actionable plans and drive results.

  • Dynamic, action-oriented team player that is self-motivated and confident in making independent decisions.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • High sense of urgency and energy.

  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

  • Familiarity with restaurant POS and back-office systems.

  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Google docs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb, lift, reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift at least 60 pounds.

  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours in a hot, wet, humid, and loud environment.

  • Uses repetitive motions.

  • Can work in both hot and cold temperatures.

Compensation:

  • $55,000-$70,000, based on experience

  • Bonus potential
