ASM Global Stage/ Production Manager in Knoxville, Tennessee

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Stage Manager position with ASM Global Knoxville. The Stage/Production Manager will be responsible for the coordination, production, and implementation of all technical stage aspects which include, but are not limited to, event orders, electrics, audio, fly rail, lighting, logistics and preventive maintenance for all stage systems, personnel, and equipment of the facility. The primary venue of responsibility for this role will be the Knoxville Civic Auditorium seating 2,500.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinate/Advance with licensee, promoter rep, tour, or event representative all pre-performance technical requirements and needs.

  • Be knowledgeable of multiple venue and the technical requirements related to each show experience, including but not limited to: audio, lighting, and specialty show technology.

  • Work with IATSE in organizing, managing, scheduling, and training.

  • Build and maintain effective and proactive working relationships with local vendors and production companies.

  • Will be responsible for the use design, implementation, supervision, and preventative maintenance for all light, sound, video, fly rail, electrical, lifts and backstage equipment and execute routine maintenance of production and technical equipment.

  • Assist technical set up of shows and experiences including software and systems programming and participate in all work calls and track large amounts of technical information.

  • Assist with event personnel with FOH needs and connections; ushers, security communication.

  • Operate audio and/or lighting system.

  • Oversee load-ins, set ups, show runs and strikes for all events.

  • Coordinate all backstage logistics for shows with local Stage Union Employees and local production vendors.

  • Willing to learn new hardware, software and processes.

  • Create, list and document procedures and processes regarding stage equipment and duties.

  • Fill in for audio/lighting/general technicians as needed.

  • Prepare the event estimate and update the client and event file with changes in the estimate.

  • Recommend capital purchases or improvements to Assistant General Manager

  • Provide for the training, safe working conditions and welfare of stage employees in accordance with ASM policies, union guidelines and applicable EEO and OSHA regulations.

  • Facilitate as necessary production services in other ASM Knoxville venues.

  • Serve as Manager on Duty as required.

  • All other duties as assigned by Assistant General Manager. Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time.

    Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • 4-year degree in Theater with technical emphasis or professional equivalence preferred.

  • 3-year minimum experience working in a performing arts center/theater or similar venue experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of operations, maintenance, and stage management

  • Working knowledge of applicable OSHA, state and other work environment and safety regulations

  • Working knowledge of fire and public safety issues

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.

    Skills and Abilities

  • Must have attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Must have strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills necessary for planning and directing coverage at events.

  • Must have strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.

  • Must have the ability to train, plan, assign, and direct work and motivate union stage personnel and front-of-house personnel.

  • Understand and work from general instructions, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Must be able to prepare, analyze and operate within Department Budget

  • Must have good computer skills and working knowledge of both in-house and general production equipment and procedures.

    Computer Skills

  • Must have considerable skill in the use of personal computers and be knowledgeable in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and computerized accounting systems.

    Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility, to stand for long hours during events, and talk and hear. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.

  • Daily lifting up to 25 lbs.

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. or more.

  • Constant standing, walking, stooping.

  • Constant reaching and handling products.

  • Ability to work extended hours productively.

  • Fast-paced, very physical environment.

  • Working in both indoor and outdoor settings.

  • Must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Working at height and moving/maintaining objects at height.
