Job Purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Manager, ASIC Architecture and Design. The Manager, ASIC Architecture and Design is responsible for leading the ASIC development efforts at BorgWarner. These teams will include ASIC Analog Design, IC Digital Design, IC Layout & ASIC tools, and Semiconductors (Product & Test).

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new ASICs that provide BorgWarner a competitive edge at the system level

  • Maintain and develop IC foundry partners to provide world class capability in cost and function

  • Manage the development of efficient IC Architectures enabling successful cost-effective ASICs

  • Oversee the development functional safe IC’s under the ISO26262 process

  • Cultivate world class IC design talent as a product differentiator

  • Maintain and develop IC test engineers and resources

  • Achieve ASIC qualifications AECQ100 and close out and transfer

  • Provide system ASIC support for existing and future ASICs

  • Forecast and adhere to departmental budgets

  • Setting direction for the team and driving results, meeting cost metrics and schedule

  • Assess and coordinate training according to company and employee growth needs

  • Communicate and enforce safe work procedures

  • Identification and closure of safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings, hazards and controls, GSSF actions) and their corrective actions

  • Ensure team resources, skills and knowledge are available to meet project needs

  • Provide a first line of escalation for competency and resource team issues

  • Recruitment of new managers and employees and retention of existing

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; however, Master’s degree preferred

  • Minimum 10 years experience required in the Semiconductor or Electronics field; ASIC experience preferred

  • Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred

  • Excellent people skills and history of teamwork

  • Determines best techniques/procedure and applies for analysis, design, or experimental procedures

  • Strong Technical background on ASIC related issues

  • Strong planning skills

  • Automotive experience is strongly preferred
