Job Purpose:

Seeking Built in Quality Leader to drive the organization in its journey to reduce defects and improve quality. Plans, organizes, and directs the central engineering, product reliability, product improvement, and railway products research laboratory activities to maintain the company’s production and profitability of its operations. Promotes growth through product quality assurance and improvement of plant and equipment. Manages creation and/or maintenance of current documentation of equipment and systems.

Key Job Elements:

• Engage with executive leadership on a daily basis to drive the organization's quality strategy;

• Lead the effort and coordinate with numerous managers and individual contributors to realize objectives;

• Directs engineering personnel to ensure product quality and reliability;

• Interfaces with Engineering, Sales, Quality Assurance, Operations, and Production departments to gain insight into opportunities across the company;

• Reviews, approves, and maintains engineering drawings and designs;

• Assigns projects for product development and improvement;

• Researches concerns on company designs and manufacturing processes and provides recommendations and solutions;

• Manages testing and evaluation of new material sources, manufacturing methods, or design changes to existing products;

• Analyzes designs to improve product quality and market competitiveness, while meeting customer satisfaction;

• Oversees product design and design improvements to provide patent coverage;

• Acts as technical consultant to internal and external customers;

• Drafts and implements manufacturing/re-manufacturing procedures;

• Leads evaluation of field installations and conducts product life-cycle analysis to make business and design decisions for the company;

• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on design, materials, R&D, and manufacturing as related to the rail industry;

• Demonstrated experience in leading product development and design needed to meet railway industry

needs, including mechanical (CAD) design, analysis, physical testing, data acquisition, and a proficient

understanding of the manufacturing process;

• Experience defining and supervising all types of analysis (stress, displacement, static, and dynamic analysis), and full scale test work (static, dynamic, and component testing);

• Knowledge of AREMA, AAR, and ISO standards and specifications related to product design and application, product development, engineering principles, and testing, to include theory, design and manufacture, project management, and data analysis;

• Proven experience with with design software including various 2D and 3D modeling and drawing platforms (AutoCAD, CREO, etc.) and FEO (Finite Element Analysis) programs;

• Familiarity with Association of American Railroads (AAR) specifications and regional industry standards a plus;

• Requires a thorough knowledge of CPS processes and tools, machine shop operations, equipment, and processes, plus familiarity with materials and quality objectives;

• Supervisor and/or Manager training; ability to work together in a team environment; ability to manage a

diverse workforce;

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral; able to create detailed specifications, procedures, and technical reports;

• Strong proficiency with MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Blueprint reading

Summary Pay Range:

$125,000.00 to $240,000.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Progress Rail Services.
