Responsible for coordinating the Service Readiness action plan for various new and rebuilt product deliveries. Works directly with the Product Support SME team, Service Teams, and Design Engineering to implement the Service Readiness process.

Education / Training:

• Bachelor degree with a major in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent training/experience;

• Some vocational/technical/business school preferred; may be offset by experience.

Job Title:

Locomotive Service Readiness Engineer

Key Job Elements:

• Develop, coordinate, and implement the Service Readiness Process to facilitate smooth and successful locomotive and product deliveries of new and existing technology to the field;

• Work with service and design engineering to develop safe and effective service tooling;

• Travel as needed to production facilities to coordinate the service readiness process during product build;

• Travel as needed to product commissioning/delivery points to coordinate commissioning activities;

• Coordinate service team training and resource planning for new deliveries;

• Attends product design reviews to provide “voice of service” representation during the design phase of new products;

• Works with design engineering and service to implement field modifications;

• Coordinates field modification programs when necessary;

• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• 3+ years of experience with electrical systems preferred; experience with general mechanics is a plus;

• Ability to read electrical schematics/blueprints and work through troubleshooting actions;

• General knowledge of Diesel engine operation;

• Communication skills, both written and oral; ability to listen and communicate with customers, suppliers, service technicians, and internal employees;

• Flexible with ability to switch responsibilities daily, as needed in highly diversified duties;

• Basic computer skills to track parts and progress of locomotive repairs in LTS system;

• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint;

• Understanding of company policies and documentation.

• Ability to work as a part of a multi shift seven (7) day a week operation.

Essential and Physical Activities Functions:

• Strength – Position typically involves office managerial work as well as oversight of field industrial activities. Occasional sitting. Constant standing, and walking. Frequent medium-to-heavy level lifting (more than 30 pounds);

• Motion – Position regularly requires standard motions associated with an industrial environment focused on locomotive repair, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting;

• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;

• Work Environment – Position is Safety Sensitive and will require the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Position typically involves a normal office environment, but also may occasionally involve work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and exposure to atmospheric conditions. Position includes exposure to noise (85+ decibels), exposure to extreme temperatures, exposure to hazardous materials, heavy equipment, and other hazardous working conditions;

• Emotional Demands – Very high level of responsibility and physical workload. Requires interpersonal skills while working with a group to meet customer service demands;

• Safety – Position is Safety Sensitive and will require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Summary Pay Range:

$75,190.00 to $139.668.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Progress Rail Services.
