Job Description

Seeking a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) Manager that will guide a group of mechanics that is responsible for the GMP Equipment (WFI Generator and Distribution, Pure Steam Generator and Distribution, Feed Water Skid and Related Equipment, GMP Chambers, AHU’s, Compressed Clean Dry Air System etc.) from a facilities perspective of a 400,000 square foot manufacturing facility. Qualification Requirements:

  • Degree or experience equivalency of 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in maintenance/equipment supervisory role (of GMP Equipment) in a highly regulated manufacturing environment (Pharmaceuticals Industry Desirable).

  • Prior experience in a GMP regulated facility.

  • Deep understanding of GMP facility equipment knowledge and criticality of it as it relates to pharmaceutical environment.

  • 6 Sigma Green Belt Certification.

  • Able to work flexible hours. Proficient in Microsoft Office Products and able to report on KPI’s.

  • Knowledgeable with Maximo is a plus.

  • Maintenance Manager will be required at times to assist in actual maintenance activities.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates the work with GMP mechanics in completion of maintenance work orders.

  • Provide guidance to GMP mechanics with complex tasks.

  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies for GMP Facilities repairs.

  • Gilead’s MRO Group is responsible for the ordering of parts, it’s this position that is responsible to make sure we have the proper quantity ordered and on hand.

  • Coordinate the OEM visits for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

  • Effective cross functional leader is required when troubleshooting or implementing specific projects.

  • Be able to respond to compliance problems and complaints received and participate in investigations.

  • Have extensive root cause analysis background and assist the Reliability Group in these efforts.

  • Manage the SOP’s that relate to the GMP Facilities Group and keep them current with regulatory requirements.

  • Review job plans to be certain they are accurate and effective. If not, assist Reliability Group in making them correct and effective.

  • Prepare job estimates for special projects for approval. Filling out and presenting budget documents for approval. Perform quality inspections on work completed by GMP maintenance team.

  • Perform that QC Check on the work to 1) make sure the work was done adequately 2) make sure equipment will function and not be down 3) Job site is clean and 4) Work Order is filled out accurately and written well. Oversees the work of employees in supporting roles, including assigning workload and monitoring employee performance.

  • Manage any PIP’s or removal of workers.

  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

  • Must have knowledge of facilities services including but not limited to Feed Water Skids, Clean Steam Generators, Pure Steam Generators, WFI distribution system. Complete knowledge of a GMP facility and GDP Requirements.

  • Critical Thinking.

  • Coordinate lower-level mechanics.

  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Be spoke person in FDA Audits to GMP Facility related issues.

  • Foster a cooperative work environment.

  • Assist with the planning and preparation of training and orientation for new maintenance team members.

  • Collaborate with team members to discuss upcoming work assignments; delegates assignments based on team members skills and experience.

  • Assist team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to identify issues and to determine repairs that are needed.

  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules around manufacturing schedules.

  • Plan Shutdown maintenance activities around the staff and outside resources.

  • Must be physically able to traverse property and facility to diagnose issues and plan repairs or maintenance.

  • Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed.

  • Be the leader of an important GMP Group of Mechanics. Without them, the facility could not operate.

The salary range for this position is: $121,125.00 - $156,750.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
