RightSteps Child Development Centers Child Care Lead Teacher in Lafayette, Indiana

At Right Steps, we recognize the transformative power of education within our community. Right now, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Child Care Lead Teacher to join our teams operating seven licensed child care centers in Tippecanoe (Lafayette, West Lafayette), Jasper (Rensselaer, Remington), and Newton (Goodland) Counties.

What you'll do as a *Lead Teacher:*

You'll partner closely with the Center Director and other team members to create a supportive haven for children and families. Enrich young minds by creating and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans using Creative Curriculum, modeling best practices in early childhood care and education, nurturing social-emotional growth. Your dynamic role involves active participation in diverse activities, contributing significantly to the classroom's triumph, directing the work of other staff in the classroom, and maintain positive, supportive relationships with children, families, and staff.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Provide quality care and continuous supervision of children.
  • Create and implement creative curriculum-approved lesson plans and activities.
  • As functional manager, responsibilities include training, coaching, and assisting the teaching team in the classroom.
  • Maintain daily communication with parents through verbal and written documentation and conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss child's individual goals and progress regularly and as needed.
  • Evaluate classroom and individual progress by completing regular observations and assessments and recording outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to get the job done:

Our ideal candidate is someone who genuinely loves working with children and possesses the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Highly desirable: a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field.
  • A minimum of 1-year prior experience working with children in a childcare environment is highly valued.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding to meet each child's individual needs.

Positions available: Assistant teacher and Lead Teacher

Schedule: Full-time (full-year- 40 Hours per week), Part-time (full-year -20 Hours per week) Monday- Friday, Dayshift
