Resort Utility Custodian

Position Overview:

The Resort Utility Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment within the hotel and public spaces. This role includes cleaning public areas, and back-of-house spaces, handling waste disposal, and performing routine maintenance tasks. The Resort Utility Custodian plays a critical role in ensuring guest satisfaction by keeping all hotel and supporting areas spotless, well-maintained, stocked, and organized.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Clean and sanitize public areas, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, conference and banquet areas in accordance with the frequency schedule attached.

Vacuum, mop, and sweep floors in designated areas.

Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.

Empty trash and recycling bins, and ensure proper disposal.

Clean windows, glass doors, and other transparent surfaces.

Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas, such as walkways and parking lots.

Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor.

Equipment Maintenance:

Clean and maintain all cleaning equipment after use

Inspect all equipment is in proper working order

Order parts and cleaning supplies as needed in accordance with budget

Frequency Schedules:

Each area will be assigned a frequency of cleaning.

Each frequency schedule will include proper technique, equipment, and cleaning solutions

Event Support:

Set up and clean event spaces, including moving furniture and equipment after the conclusion of each event.

Assist in cleaning up after events, ensuring the area is restored to its original condition.

Routine Maintenance:

Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and fixing minor leaks.

Assist with pest control efforts.

Safety and Compliance:

Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Comply with all hotel policies and procedures, including those related to security and emergency procedures.

Customer Service:

Interact with guests in a polite and professional manner.

Address guest requests or direct them to the appropriate department.

Inventory Management:

Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment inventory, and notify the supervisor when reordering is necessary.

Ensure proper storage and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous custodial or janitorial experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.

Ability to operate cleaning equipment and perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects.

Basic understanding of maintenance tasks and safety procedures.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and handle heavy cleaning equipment.

Exposure to cleaning chemicals and waste materials.

Compensation: Starting pay $17.50 or more based on experience.
