Compensation range: $27hr to $35hr. Based on our Lake Oswego, OR office location. (West Yost uses geographic salary differentials that would apply for candidates in other regions).

This is a Hybrid role with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

CAD TECHNICIAN (Electrical Focus)
BASIC JOB FUNCTION
The CAD Technician is a key member of the engineering team, with responsibility for construction document preparation and delivery for public and private infrastructure and utility projects. They will collaborate with a team of engineers from various disciplines, which may include civil, mechanical, electrical, and control and instrumentation engineers. This job will initially focus on Electrical Drafting, however there will be abundant opportunities to gain experience in Civil and Mechanical Drafting and Design.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Expand knowledge and experience with Civil and Mechanical drafting and design utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D and Revit. Create site, grading, utility and mechanical plans, civil profiles, sections, and details. Model utility networks and mechanical piping.
Expand knowledge and experience with electrical schematic and wiring drawings including single & three-line diagrams, relay and control schematics, communication diagrams, and panel wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
Develop plan drawings including site, power, lighting\photometric, conduit, and grounding plans using AutoCAD and Revit. Must have a good understanding of external referencing and scaling.
Develop detail drawings including grounding, conduits, conduit and cable tray layouts, and panel elevations.
Develop bill of materials and schedules including conduit and conductor schedules, luminaire schedules, and panel schedules. Must have a good understanding of linking excel files into CAD files.
Create drawings for electrical enclosures, equipment, instruments, and installations details.
Develop P&ID drawings in collaboration with electrical and mechanical engineers.
Outline, set up, organize, and maintain project drawings according to applicable standards.
Perform design coordination and drawing reviews.
Update, revise, and scale designs as necessary according to client feedback. Work with other internal teams to get designs approved and executed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification from a college or technical school or an AS degree in Drafting Technology or CAD Design.
1+ year(s) of experience in CAD design for the A/E/C industry, may consider new graduates.
Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and other 3D software programs. Familiarity with BIM and MicroStation are a plus.
Basic knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Must effectively communicate with all project team members.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position may require travel to other offices and/or client offices. Applicant must carry a valid driver's license. Applicant must also be able to meet West Yost’s rules and be eligible to drive for business. West Yost’s insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
