Job Title: Buyer

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Buyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for following company quality systems and managing inventory, purchasing materials, and coordinating with various departments to ensure smooth operations. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow company quality system, including all applicable SOPs included in the Training Matrix.

  • Determine raw material requirements based on new orders and computer ERP generated information.

  • Continually review and evaluate ERP data to ensure proper inventory levels and strive for JIT delivery.

  • Communicate regularly with production and engineering departments to meet new project needs and assist in setting up items in the ERP system.

  • Coordinate delivery of raw materials with scheduling, customer service, shipping and receiving, and engineering.

  • Work closely with inventory personnel to maintain Kanban and/or minimum levels.

  • Support cycle count and corrections.

  • Drive the procurement process and adjust order quantities with input from the scheduler.

  • Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, delivery, and services, and obtain new requests for quotes.

  • Purchase production materials as necessary to anticipate customer needs while managing optimal inventory levels.

  • Purchase non-inventory supplies.

  • Initiate purchase orders and amendments for materials and services.

  • Escalate supplier issues to the Materials Manager when appropriate.

  • Regularly review open orders concerning changes in demand and inventory position, reschedule/cancel orders accordingly, and correct open POs to update necessary changes.

  • Maintain accurate vendor data regarding quotes, lead times, and vendor performance.

  • Follow up with vendors to address issues or confirm deliveries.

  • Complete all transactions in the ERP system as required.

  • Understand supplier Quality Agreements and standards.

  • Support the Quality Department in reviewing suppliers.

  • Communicate opportunities for action to the Materials Manager.

  • Take continuous improvement actions by developing, expanding, and maintaining an effective supply chain procurement process.

  • Assist in other work-related areas as required.

Essential Skills

  • Buyer/Purchaser experience: 2+ years.

  • Experience in a manufacturing company.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to follow instructions, ask clear questions, offer relevant information, and maintain productive relationships with colleagues.

  • Experience with ERP order entry systems and common computer software.

  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines in a changing environment.

  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and effective communication, both verbally and in writing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and SAP is beneficial.

Work Environment

This role is within a stable company in the medical industry. The contract runs until May with the potential for extension and possibly a longer-term opportunity. The work environment is dynamic, with a focus on teamwork and continuous improvement.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $31.00
