Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee janitorial staff, manage vendors, and handle maintenance and repairs of various building systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in facilities maintenance and possess strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise janitorial staff and manage vendor schedules.

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on walls, floors, doors, ceilings, furniture, and more.

  • Handle minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance tasks.

  • Conduct exterior maintenance, conference room set-ups, and furniture/cabinet moves and repairs.

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including OSHA regulations and proper use of PPE.

  • Perform shift rounds to check systems, buildings, and equipment for issues.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair substantial equipment.

  • Inspect and evaluate operating characteristics such as speeds, pressures, and wear.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment, fire life safety systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.

  • Repair systems and apparatus, including pumps, steam traps, valves, electrical, and pneumatic solenoid devices.

  • Handle administrative tasks such as material ordering, purchase order requests, budget management, vendor coordination, and work order management.

  • Document work results, analyze findings, and recommend updates to PM lists.

  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and customer staff to ensure clear understanding of work requests and status updates.

  • Manage maintenance projects and provide guidance to subcontractors of facilities services.

Essential Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; preference for some undergraduate business or trade school training.

  • 4 years of experience and/or training in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools.

  • Experience with disassembling and reassembling fixtures, fans, pumps, HVAC equipment, and other building-related equipment.

  • General plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills.

  • Understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS) including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and Life Safety Systems.

  • Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, and aerial lift.

  • Proficiency in MS applications, spreadsheets, and internet use for managing expenses, creating PO requests, timesheets, PM schedules, and help desk tickets.

Work Environment

Work is performed on-site at a corporate headquarters in Lakeland, FL. The schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeland, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00
