Develop proposals, define scope of work, and project cost estimates including Project scoping, budget, and scheduling. Write and review substation equipment specifications. Collaborate and coordinate the efforts of internal and external resources. Collaborate and coordinate with multiple client departments and disciplines, including procurement, engineering, communications, project management, and construction. Perform high voltage substation physical and electrical design, ranging from conceptual to detailed using Electrical codes and regulations including (NESC (IEEE C2), NPFA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.137 and OSHA 1910.269), design standards (including IEEE 80, IEEE 780, and IEEE 1584), installation details, system design references and utility Perform power plant protection, controls, and communication design, including protection system conception philosophy and protection devices selection and specification. Perform transmission and distribution system protection, controls, and communication design utilizing knowledge of software calculation tools including ASPEN One-liner, ETAP, SKM-PTW, ATP-EMTP, Milsoft WindMil, Milsoft LightTable, and EasyPower. Perform large scale reliability analysis studies. Soil resistivity measurement, soil resistivity calculation and modelling based on field measurement. Perform transient recovery voltage studies. Conduct engineering design with client, vendor, and multiple disciplines including P&C, Telecom, Electrical, Construction Manager, and procurement. Perform HVDC Converter Station performance analysis and specifications. Prepare HVDC ground electrode design. Prepare Lightning system protection calculations and specifications. Deliver substation protection, controls, and communication design... Review protective relaying schemes, communication schemes, and SCADA systems for substation design. Conceive and design industrial plant protection, controls, and communication design. Perform short-circuit, including transient stability, including single-pole tripping studies for Hybrid AC/DC systems, including wind power, solar generation, and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems. Perform load flow studies for AC systems, DC systems, hybrid AC/DC systems, including wind power and solar generation. Perform comprehensive protection settings calculations and coordination of AC systems, DC systems, hybrid AC/DC systems, including wind power and solar generation. Perform arc flash calculations and arc flash hazard mitigation analysis and solutions for AC and DC systems. Prepare detailed specifications and supervise factory acceptance testing for large substation apparatus including power transformers, metal clad switchgear, high voltage circuit breakers, surge arrestors, capacitor bank, metering equipment, converters, SVC equipment and ancillary equipment. Analyze distributed generation interconnection applications including feasibility analysis and required system improvements for integration. Prepare capital planning studies, power quality, harmonic and grounding calculations. Perform North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) protection compliance studies. Prepare protection and metering one-line, three-line, control schematic, and wiring diagrams. Perform detailed QA/QC for work product of others across all aspects of job tasks listed above. Mentor and provide training on power systems principles, design and theories to engineers and technicians. Education Required: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Foreign degree accepted.
