Thermal Analyst Mechanical Engineer II NASA Glenn Research Center Cleveland, Ohio HX5 is an award-winning provider of engineering, research and development, and technical services to clients such as NASA and the Department of Defense. HX5 is currently seeking a Thermal Analyst to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform thermal analyses supporting the Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstration (EPFD) Project. Work will encompass aspects of ground and flight tests of electrified aircraft propulsion technologies being designed to enable a new generation of hybrid electric-powered aircraft. Tasks would include support for thermal system assessments and model development for electrified aircraft; including analyzing thermal management technologies, conducting risk reduction testing, and collaborating on design and test reviews between NASA and industry partners. EPFD is a collaboration between NASA and industry to demonstrate the capabilities of electrified aircraft propulsion technologies in reducing emissions for future commercial aircraft in the mid-2030s. Required Skills: Ability to design and develop thermal models of NASA project hardware within Thermal Desktop. Experience with thermal test design and execution. Strong fundamentals in the area of thermal analysis and mechanical design. Capable of analyzing and presenting data gathered from thermal models. Knowledge of engineering principles as applied to aerospace components and products. Team oriented with the ability to work independently as well. Education/Experience: Completed at least a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, from an accredited program, with the following education and experience: Bachelor of Science degree with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience Master of Science degree with 0 to 3 years of relevant experience Other Position Requirements: Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position. Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
