Skookum is seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Mechanic with a professional attitude. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Perform maintenance of equipment to include, but not limited to, wheeled vehicles, portable latrines, power generation, and material handling equipment. Maintains maintenance records on equipment serviced/repaired. Must be able to read, understand, and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair during scheduled services. Ability to perform minor Mig welding and Oxy/acetylene cutting preferred. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on all equipment. Order necessary parts and equipment. Performs major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing components, removal and installation of assemblies and installation of components. Perform inspection and repair on brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems. Must be knowledgeable of the regulations on hazardous material, hazardous waste, and the right to know information sheets. Maintains cleanliness of work area, Sanitation yard and tools to ensure compliance with established safety procedures. Must exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs. Utilizing credit card to purchase parts and supplies, keeping accurate log of expenses and receipts for billing purposes. Repair portable latrines and sinks, set-up/pick-up and service portable latrines and sinks when needed. Qualifications: Minimum three to five years light, medium and heavy truck experience. Must be able to read, understand, and follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair. Must be able to effectively use computers and computer software. Must exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs.
