Robert Half Purchasing Agent in Lancaster, New York

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Purchasing Agent in Lancaster, New York. Your role will involve sourcing raw materials/finished goods, negotiating with suppliers for the best pricing, building relationships with suppliers, and communicating order status updates through Oracle/ERP systems among other responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Completing daily purchasing actions prompted from reporting systems and emails

• Collaborating with Sourcing Specialists to source raw materials/finished goods effectively

• Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best pricing, payment, and shipping terms

• Processing all dropship requests daily and managing the retrieval and updates of vendor certifications

• Proactively communicating order status updates cross departmentally through Oracle/ERP systems

• Purchasing all MRO and office supplies and communicating with Purchasing Supervisor and Manager regarding price and availability changes in the supply chain

• Following departmental procedures and work instructions, and recommending improvements as necessary

• Performing any other task/activity assigned within the scope of the purchasing system

• Ensuring a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements

• Utilizing Microsoft Office, various databases, and industry-specific software effectively and adapting to new programs as required

• Building relationships and communicating effectively with others. Requirements • Proficiency in ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions

• Familiarity with IBM AS/400 and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and About Time software

• Previous experience as a Buyer and understanding of Buying Processes

• Knowledge of Component Selection

• Strong Customer Service skills

• Ability to work in a team and collaborate with different stakeholders

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

• Ability to analyze market trends and make purchasing decisions accordingly

• Familiarity with legal and ethical practices in purchasing

• Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently

• Willingness to stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements.
