WestRock Company Shipping Coordinator in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing the day to day logistical activities for shipping and receiving of the Plant facility. Responsibilities include ensuring personnel operate efficiently and safely, maximizing loads while minimizing shipping costs, and coordinating with 3rd Party Logistics Companies to ensure on-time delivery of customer products and high customer satisfaction.

This role is 3rd shift.

Major Job Responsibilities:

Business Excellence

\u2022 Coordinate daily dispatch to ensure timely and cost-effective shipment methods

\u2022 Plan and maintain weekly shipping schedule to ensure on-time pick and delivery of customer products

\u2022 Maintain record of counts, quantities and descriptions of inventory being shipped and received

\u2022 Reconcile all load reports with Kiwi ESP to ensure accuracy of inventory being loaded and shipped

\u2022 Identify opportunities to maximize manufactured square footage (MSF) per trailer to increase utilization of assets and increase cost savings

\u2022 Review prior day shipping report to confirm shipment with dedicated carriers, customer pick-ups, and breakdown of MSF to identify opportunities to increase efficiency

\u2022 Coordinate material staging, shipments, pick and pack order fulfillment, expired inventory destruction, and raw and customer owned inventory

\u2022 Maintain working knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations and general routes to create time efficient shipping schedules

\u2022 Review customer specifications to determine the most efficient carton size and pallet pricing

\u2022 Utilize Kiwi application to track and confirm inbound and outbound loads to account for inventory

People and Culture

\u2022 Work collaboratively with Production to assess, manage, and prioritize customer requests to ensure load planning accuracy, mitigate delays, and enable high customer satisfaction

\u2022 Communicate production updates and delivery statuses with Customer Service and customers to enable a positive customer experience

\u2022 Ensure Shipping Clerks safely operate material handling equipment (e.g. forklift) and properly adhere to all safety regulations and procedures

\u2022 Coach and train Shipping employees on departmental procedures to enable performance excellence

\u2022 Partner with 3rd Party Logistics Companies to coordinate dock times for customer receipt of inventory

Technical Skills:

\u2022 Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook

Work Environment:

\u2022 Work in an office within the plant environment; noisy work environment; moderately climate-controlled environment; exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures; exposure to machinery conditions of over 100\u2070F; maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations

Experience:

\u2022 Required: 3 years of experience in Shipping and Receiving in a warehouse environment

\u2022 Preferred: Knowledge of inventory management best practices

Education:

\u2022 Required: High School diploma or G.E.D.

\u2022 Preferred: 2- year technical degree or certificate program in a Logistics or related field
