Science Systems and Applications, Inc. Accounting Intern in Lanham, Maryland

SSAI seeks an Accounting to help provide support to the accounting team. This is a great opportunity to transition into an entry-level accounting role. The position is located at SSAI Headquarters in Lanham, Maryland. The responsibilities include:

  • Assist in Financial Reporting: Support the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

  • Data Entry and Bookkeeping: Enter financial data into accounting software and assist in maintaining accurate records of financial transactions.

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Aid in processing invoices, verifying expenses, and reconciling accounts payable and receivable.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis. Help in forecasting financial trends and identifying potential areas for cost reduction or revenue enhancement.

  • Audit Support: Provide assistance during internal and external audits by gathering necessary documentation, conducting research, and preparing audit schedules.

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct analysis on financial performance metrics, such as profitability ratios, liquidity ratios, and efficiency ratios, to provide insights into the company's financial health.

  • Ad Hoc Projects: Support special projects as assigned by the accounting team, which may include data analysis, process improvement initiatives, or other tasks to enhance departmental efficiency.

  • Supporting Payroll function and timesheet management

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in Accounting, Finance, or related field. .

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret financial data and identify trends or discrepancies.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial records and reports.

  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with team members and external stakeholders.

  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting colleagues and contributing to shared goals.

  • Time Management: Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel: Basic proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets, use formulas, and perform data analysis.

  • Ethical Conduct: Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in handling financial information.
