Science Systems and Applications Inc. (SSAI) is looking for an experienced Web GIS developer to help develop and maintain a widely used NASA near real-time mapping application. This work is located at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, Maryland. Successful candidates will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be good at collaborating, innovating, and making things happen. They will also be curious learners who seek out cutting-edge research and information to expand and enhance their ability to be ready for what’s next. This position is in person at GSFC in Greenbelt, MD.

Required Qualifications:

• Position requires BS degree in Computer Science, Physical Science, Engineering, Math, or related field with at least five years of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Understanding relational databases, designing, and implementing scripts for web and map services and the ability to support front-end user interface.

• Spatial database such as (PostgreSQL, MySQL)

• Ability to code in at least two languages: PHP, Perl or Python

• UI development in JavaScript

• Background in web mapping technologies (such as OpenLayers)

• Self-starter and independent problem solver

• A minimum of five years experience demonstrating a good understanding of Linux environments (Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat)

• Five years of experience deploying commercial or government websites and secure web applications
