This position serves as the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer of the Compliance & Corporate Governance Division (CCGD) and is responsible for managing the Compliance Specialist/HR Liaison and Data Governance Specialist, along with the data governance initiatives and BOI Records Management program. This position reviews matters of business and transactional law for the State of Michigan Retirement System (SMRS) pension fund and other trusts and agencies (DCTA) where the State Treasurer is granted investment discretion and which the Bureau of Investments (BOI) manages investments assets on behalf of. This position establishes priorities based on time sensitivity of the investment opportunity, works independently, and proceeds with BOI objectives. This position also supports CCGD by monitoring investment compliance statutory thresholds, monitoring regulatory filings/changes impacting private and public market investments, responding to securities litigation matters, coordinating the State's divestment practices, managing proxy voting responsibilities pursuant to Public Act 314 of 1965 and other applicable statutes. Additionally, this position supports BOI staff by carrying out special projects, as assigned.
