The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) has an opening for a Utility Line Clearance Trimmer in Lansing, MI, as part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO, Local Union 352.
Position Summary:
Responsible for performing trimming or removal of trees and other vegetation near energized or de-energized overhead power lines using aerial lifts and/or manual climbing techniques.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for trimming or removal of trees and other vegetation; following the BWL Tree Trimming Policy. Properly uses and cares for of all tools and equipment required to perform job duties. Drives and operates an aerial lift bucket truck and large brush chipper. Must be willing and able to work standby rotation as required. Follows BWL safety manual and wears required personal protective equipment as required. Attends training and safety awareness and/or skills improvement as required by the BWL Utility Forester, BWL management, or government agency such as MIOSHA. Performs other duties as necessitated by job responsibilities. Must be willing to learn Microsoft Excel, Outlook, BWL Outage Management System, and SAP for keeping track of completed jobs and entering time.
