Summary
Utilizes engineering methodology to support program launch readiness, production planning and continuous improvement. Provides the necessary weld engineering knowledge, processing skills and technical support to the company to ensure Loc Performance achieves optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity and delivery to internal and external customer’s satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Development, review, maintenance, and control of welding techniques, procedures and application of welding equipment. Including WPS’s, PQR’s and all testing requirements.
Interpret drawings, weld codes, and standards to develop procedures / qualification plans
Develop weld maps, weld procedures, qualification records, work instructions, and welding visual aids
Identify and coordinate weld qualification material and equipment needs
Coordinate and/or perform destructive and non-destructive weld testing
Develop qualification tests for welding personnel
Oversee weld process to maintain quality
Identification of weld fixture requirements. Assistance in tool conceptualization.
Work with Quality and Production departments to ensure validation checks are built into the process.
Support lessons learned activities and implementation into quotes and standards.
Support manufacturing with process and document interpretation.
Participate in cost reduction efforts and support/implement continuous improvement activities.
Support corrective actions as required.
Support Program Management in APQP activities, as well as project cost adherence.
Consult with customers and provide expertise to maximize the integrity, efficiency, and manufacturability of designs on new and existing projects.
Provide floor support during trouble shooting activities
Assist with customer activities/support as requested

Extensive working knowledge of manufacturing practices in a diverse range of processes.
GD&T experience required.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering Technology, AWS Accreditation, and five (5) years manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
