Microsoft Corporation High Performance Computing Support Engineer PART TIME role in Las Colinas, Texas

This is a Part-time role. Work shifts will be 8 hours/day, 3 days/week for a total of 24 hours. This role is flexible in that you can work up to 100% from home.

In the Customer Service & Support (CSS) team we are looking for people with a passion for delivering customer success. We are hiring for a High Performance Computing (HPC) Support Engineer. As an HPC Support Engineer, you will collaborate closely with our engineering teams and external partners to support Azure’s HPC VM SKUs, InfiniBand, CycleCloud, HPC Pack, and Azure Managed Lustre File System. In this role you will own, troubleshoot and solve complex customer technical issues. Responsibilities

  • Response and Resolution: You own, investigate, and solve complex customer technical issues and act as an advisor to the customer, collaborating within and across teams and leveraging troubleshooting tools and practices.

  • Readiness: You lead in building communities with peer delivery roles and share your knowledge through readiness programs, technical coaching and mentoring of others.

  • You deepen your technical and professional proficiency to enable you to resolve complex customer issues, through training and readiness.

  • Product/Process Improvement: You engage with Microsoft Engineering/ Supportability teams to investigate potential product defects and help develop automation techniques and diagnostic tools driving Microsoft product improvements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years technical support, technical consulting experience, or information technology experience

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical support, technical consulting experience, or information technology experience.

  • Experience supporting HPC in a Linux or Windows environment.

Other Requirements:

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years technical support, technical consulting experience, or information technology experience

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or related field AND 3+ years technical support, technical consulting experience, or information technology experience

  • Technical experience in three or more of the following:

  • Familiarity with HPC Pack.

  • Managing HPC clusters on-premises or on Cloud.

  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking and related protocol, InfiniBand.

  • Familiarity with HPC schedulers.

  • Familiarity with MPI libraries and programming.

  • Understand hierarchical file systems, including high performance parallel storage, and HPC cache.

  • Microsoft Technology Certifications.

  • Proficiency in Japanese is preferred but not required.

Technical Support Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $66,900 - $135,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $89,600 - $148,200 per year.

Technical Support Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $83,400 - $167,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $108,900 - $183,000 per year.
