Nature of Work
ANIMAL SHELTER PERSONNEL ARE EMPLOYEES OF THE ANIMAL SERVICE CENTER OF THE MESILLA VALLEY (ASCMV) - NOT THE CITY OF LAS CRUCES.
Promotes Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley’s (ASCMV) mission by increasing community engagement, and driving awareness for ASCMV and the animals in ASCMV care. Cultivates and maintains relationships with local media outlets to deliver the ASCMV message and mission to a wider audience to aid in increasing adoptions and helping our animals find forever homes.
Environmental Factors
Work is performed in a kennel/shelter setting: animals may be in work areas. Exposure to disinfectant solutions and animal odors/loud noise levels
Physical Factor
Light physical demands; desk work, taking pictures/videos of adoptable animals for content creation, frequent use of a personal computer.
Work Situation Factors
Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, occasional work beyond normal business hours, and responding to customer issues . Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and ASCMV policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
Create engaging content, including posts, stories, and multimedia (photos, videos) to showcase ASCMV animals and events.
Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, responding promptly to inquiries, comments, and concerns.
Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy across various platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok) to increase visibility and engagement.
Collaborate with staff and recent pet adopters to feature animals available for adoption and highlight success stories.
Promote donation drives, off-site adoption events, and volunteer opportunities through social media channels.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with partners and local media outlets to amplify ASCMV messaging and reach a wider audience.
Track and analyze social media metrics and performance data, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Stay informed on current trends, best practices, and new features on social media platforms to continuously enhance our social media presence and engagement.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED AND one (1) year experience in marketing, advertising, communications, and website development is required. Students currently pursing a degree in marketing or related field are encouraged to apply. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with ASCMV policy.
Licenses and/or Certifications
Valid driver's license is required. Position requires an acceptable driving record in accordance with ASCMV policy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of: p rinciples and practices of web content development and site management; social media and communications platforms; website publishing and editing software; digital marketing and SEO practices; job related terminology including technical terms; principles, practices, techniques, activities, rules, and regulations related to the operations and functions of the position and services provided; current principles of record keeping and records management; principles and practices of effective research methods and data analysis, customer service, and problem resolution techniques; occupational and environmental safety and health hazards, and safety practices; safe and effective use and maintenance of related tools, materials, and equipment; current methods and standards for preparing effective business correspondence; correct English usage, grammar, composition, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; business and personal computers and related software applications; ASCMV organization, operations, policies, and procedures to effectively perform the required functions and duties of the position.
