ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER Works with some direction to provide technical guidance in the environmental affairs area. Assures that operations are conducted in a manner consistent with compliance related standards and assists in evaluation of the effectiveness of environmental programs to assure optimum results. Participate in proactive programs that identify, evaluate, and improve environmental performance associated with Carpenter's processes. Support strategies for environmental matters, and understand the impact of regulatory compliance. Identify and evaluate environmental issues in the workplace and recommend appropriate regulatory or engineering response. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER Bachelor's degree required in Environmental Engineering or related field. Two to five years of experience in a safety related discipline, preferably in a manufacturing environment Accountable for technical contribution to a project team or sub-team. Works with others to achieve team goals through expanded knowledge and skills within own function. May be accountable for subsets for project deliverables. Has no formal role in managing projects. Aware of costs and assists in controlling costs related to own work. Experience with some of the following: Air pollutant sampling, analysis and reporting. Air pump sampling. Dynamometers Storm water sampling and reporting. ISO14001 Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology. Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws. General knowledge of production processes and quality control for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Solves a range of problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures. Customer Focused - Responds to non-standard requests from customers; investigates with assistance from others as needed. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge. Ability to work under frequently changing priorities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills
