Early Learning Resource Center Resource and Referral Information Specialist in Latrobe, Pennsylvania

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma

Experience: Early childhood experience within a Keystone STARS program. Experience in outreach, community involvement, planning and monitoring are essential.

Clearances: ChildLine Child abuse, PA State Police Criminal and Federal Fingerprint clearances

Requirements:

Travel: Valid driver's license, car insurance (annual verification required), and reliable personal transportation for travel within Pennsylvania

Physical Conditions: Moderate physical effort in a predominately sitting, standing or walking position. Manual dexterity needed for writing and typing. Occasional bending, stooping, or lifting up to 20 lbs

Personal: Positive attitude, proactive approach and commitment to teamwork, respectful communication with parents, providers, and co-workers, effective oral and written communication and organizational skills, strict adherence to confidentiality guidelines, satisfactory attendance, punctual arrival and completion of scheduled work hours

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Problem solving ability where independent judgment may be required

  2. Assists parents who are in need of child care assistance. Mail or email child care subsidy applications or direct parents to COMPASS website

  3. Performs child care referrals for families in need of care and educates parents of the importance of quality child care, Head Start, PA Pre K counts, early intervention and any other program available to families.

  4. Performs personal interview meetings with newly enrolled parents regarding the rights, responsibilities and eligibility of subsidized child care , choosing quality child care and other community resources

  5. Maintains resource room and outreach materials

  6. Researches information for, organizes and stocks the resource room with relevant information on child care, children and family issues, providers and human service agencies.

  7. Compiles and distributes information for provider supports

  8. Compiles and edits the quarterly parent/provider newsletter

  9. Backs up the Administrative Assistant as needed

10.Organizes outreach events, presents information at community events and meetings throughout the region, educate the community and parents on quality child care and other resources available to them.
