Location: This position is hybrid, based in Laurel, MD 20707, working onsite 3 days during the workweek. Overview: We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior QA Engineer to join our client’s team at the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, WSSC, Water. This position requires a solid background in testing and quality assurance, with experience in public utilities, laboratory information systems, and customer/workforce management systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in testing strategies, automation, system integration, and performance testing. Key Responsibilities: Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments. Designs, implements, and executes comprehensive test plans for complex, distributed enterprise systems and web applications. Leads and coordinates large-scale testing efforts, ensuring all phases of the testing lifecycle are completed within scope, budget, and schedule. Develops and maintains test automation scripts using industry-standard tools such as UFT and LoadRunner. Performs system integration testing, automation testing, infrastructure patching, and performance testing (white box, black box, and UAT). Reviews software requirements and assesses traceability, providing recommendations for quality improvements. Identifies and documents defects with clear descriptions, including steps to reproduce, and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues. Applies advanced knowledge of testing methodologies and quality assurance procedures to improve product quality. Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate testing progress to stakeholders. Ensures testing aligns with business processes and strategy, supporting seamless project execution and delivery. Minimum Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). Ten years of professional experience in a job-related role with a bachelor’s degree, or 5 years with a master’s degree. Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), UC4 batch processing, and C2M/Workforce management systems is highly desired. Strong functional knowledge of testing systems interfaces. Ability to Lead test efforts on projects and testing resources as needed. Strong functional knowledge of testing system integrations. Advanced knowledge of testing strategy and design, and quality assurance methods and procedures. Advanced working knowledge of both white box and black box testing. Specialized Experience: Strong expertise in system integration testing, test automation, and performance testing. Experience with ALM, UFT, LoadRunner, SQL, and Test Script Development. Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server). Experience with programming languages such as WebFocus, .NET, JAVA/J2EE, and UNIX. Solid understanding of the SDLC process and user methodologies. Ability to design and execute complex test strategies based on business requirements. Experience in dealing with multiple projects and cross-functional teams (users and developers). In-depth knowledge of the full life-cycle SDLC process and user methodologies. Ability to test complex, distributed enterprise systems as well as web applications. Ability to assess software requirements quality including traceability Ability to succinctly document inconsistencies and defects along with clear descriptions of how detected and/or steps needed to recreate and ability to make the appropriate recommendations Skills & Competencies: Expertise in designing and implementing automation frameworks and test scripts. Ability to analyze complex problems and provide practical, effective solutions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other project management software. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels. Proven ability to lead teams, multi-task, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment. Excellent skills in identifying, documenting, and resolving inconsistencies and defects. Proficiency with the following skillset: ALM UFT LoadRunner SQL Test Script Development System design and architecture diagrams. Additional Requirements: Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and meet tight deadlines. A proactive approach to driving improvements in testing methodologies and ensuring high-quality deliverables. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Clearance: The ability to pass a background check is required.
