Position Summary Information
General Summary
TheStudent Intern – Data Network Engineeringwill assist the Voice & Data Network Support team in providing technical assistance with the daily operations of the organization’s IT data network
Essential Functions
Assist the Data Network team with the architecture, implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting support of the network communications
Assist with installations and support of servers, workstations, network hardware, DNS and DHCP appliances, network devices (including Wi-Fi devices, switches, routers, etc.) and peripherals
Other Functions
Assist with developing and maintaining documentation, including addressing plans, network topology diagrams, rack elevation, data flows and variables.
Provide support, consisting of technical and problem resolution support, along with maintenance of the networking infrastructure and environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Coursework in IT and other relevant courses emphasizing OSI model/network engineering
Knowledge with network routing protocols like EIGRP , BGP & OSPF ; and switching technologies like Spanning Tree, Ether Channel, Port Security, and 802.1X, etc.
Knowledge of network analysis, packet decodes, common protocols, familiarity with analysis utilities
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent skills in documentation of systems and procedures
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
2+ years completed college education in an IT-focused discipline
Additional Requirements
Must be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite applications.
Preferences
Coursework in network engineering preferred
