Position Summary Information

General Summary

TheStudent Intern – Data Network Engineeringwill assist the Voice & Data Network Support team in providing technical assistance with the daily operations of the organization’s IT data network

Essential Functions

  • Assist the Data Network team with the architecture, implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting support of the network communications

  • Assist with installations and support of servers, workstations, network hardware, DNS and DHCP appliances, network devices (including Wi-Fi devices, switches, routers, etc.) and peripherals

Other Functions

  • Assist with developing and maintaining documentation, including addressing plans, network topology diagrams, rack elevation, data flows and variables.

  • Provide support, consisting of technical and problem resolution support, along with maintenance of the networking infrastructure and environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Coursework in IT and other relevant courses emphasizing OSI model/network engineering

  • Knowledge with network routing protocols like EIGRP , BGP & OSPF ; and switching technologies like Spanning Tree, Ether Channel, Port Security, and 802.1X, etc.

  • Knowledge of network analysis, packet decodes, common protocols, familiarity with analysis utilities

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent skills in documentation of systems and procedures

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Minimum Education, Experience Requirements

2+ years completed college education in an IT-focused discipline

Additional Requirements

Must be proficient in the use of MS Office Suite applications.

Preferences

Coursework in network engineering preferred

SalaryCommensurate with education & experience
