Description
We are seeking a Tax Manager/Director - Public Accounting to join our team in the Omaha, Nebraska metro area within the Public Accounting industry. This role involves managing and leading tax planning services, representing clients on tax compliance issues, and coaching and leading staff among other responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee high-level preparation of diverse tax returns
• Review work of staff and provide necessary guidance
• Lead tax planning services for clients
• Represent clients dealing with IRS, State, or local tax compliance issues
• Apply knowledge of GAAP and client financial statements to tax preparation tasks
• Identify and suggest solutions for technically advanced tax issues
• Deliver accurate work product in written and oral form
• Demonstrate advanced computer literacy with relevant software programs
• Perform complex technical research and prepare research memos
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients through continuous communication and exceptional service
• Identify opportunities for expanding services to existing clients
• Cultivate new client relationships through referrals and networking
• Stay current on technical matters through trainings and self-study
• Provide conflict resolution for internal and external complaints or issues
• Ensure all tax returns are filed in a timely manner
• Reorganize work among tax staff within team if needed to share workloads
• Ensure all procedures and policies are adhered to by supporting tax staff.
Requirements
Requirements & Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field required
• CPA or EA license a plus, but not required
• Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in Public Accounting, specifically in the Tax practice
• Prior supervisory experience required - must be able to oversee, evaluate, delegate, and direct all Tax staff both onsite and remotely
• Ability to work with client contacts and leadership to provide explanation, guidance, planning, and other services
• Experience within Tax Accounting software such as Thomson Reuters UltraTax, ProSystems Fx, or other similar tax software experience highly desired
• Knowledge of current tax laws and regulations
