Job Description:

The successful candidate will conduct research in the area of broadband two-photon absorption spectroscopy of molecules in solution. The project involves the development and implementation of novel approaches for measuring two-photon absorption spectra using ultrafast pump-probe laser techniques, including the detection of two-photon-excited fluorescence spectra and possible applications in two-photon microscopy. Research activities may include project design, execution of experiments, development and application of data analysis methods, publishing research results in scientific journals, and presenting research results at scientific meetings. Additional duties include mentoring of graduate and undergraduate research students, active participation in regular group meetings, and support of general lab maintenance and operations. The successful candidate is expected to pursue meaningful professional development opportunities that will prepare them for a productive career beyond this position.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. in physical chemistry or a closely related field

NOTE: To be appointed at the Postdoctoral Researcher title, it is necessary to have the PhD in hand. Appointments made without a diploma or certified transcript indicating an earned doctorate are conditional hires and are appointed on an acting basis not to exceed 6-months.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Completion of Ph.D. within the last four years

  2. Experience working with ultrafast lasers and/or optical spectroscopy

  3. Experience in two-photon fluorescence microscopy
