If you are an experienced Manufacturing & Operations leader looking for an opportunity to grow, we have an exciting opportunity for you! You will provide top-level leadership as the DIRECTOR OF MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS for our Copeland-Americas plant located LEBANON, MO . You will also be responsible for developing and leading a culture that drives behaviors which build trust and achieve results. This includes daily leadership of manufacturing operations, materials, safety, quality, engineering and all other support functions for achieving plant operational goals and for developing strategies that facilitate growth, deliver profitable margins and material velocity. You will continuously balance customer, employee and shareholder needs to help drive the business.

The Plant Manager reports directly to the Vice President of Manufacturing and will collaborate closely with peers at other plants, the Business Unit, and the corporate level. This role's position title is negotiable and dependent on years of experience.

As The Director of Manufacturing Operations, You Will:

  • Adopt the Copeland Business System as the operating platform to drive value stream mapping, lean daily management, and structured problem-solving.

  • Clearly communicate Copeland vision and improvement plans to employees while modeling core values of partnership, respect, innovation, responsibility, and excellence

  • Develop a culture that embodies operational excellence core principles: respect everyone, lead with humility, seek perfection, scientific thinking, process focus, quality at the source, flow and pull value, think systematically, constancy of purpose, customer value

  • Establish measurements and get results through lean and continuous improvement on operational critical metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People)

  • Lead the team with high expectations, building a culture of candor, trust, and strong performance. Ensure direct reports are meeting goals as established in the annual operating plan

  • Develop talent at all levels within the plant organization but specifically as relate to direct reports or staff. Supervise and mitigate talent gaps to develop an impactful organization with deep bench strength

  • Provide regular performance reviews to employees while mentoring and counseling team members quickly and optimally to meet the company's expectations for both leadership proficiencies and goal achievement

  • Build influence and rapport with people across various levels, functions, cultures, and geography

  • Gain insight into customer needs to develop solutions that also align with organizational needs

  • Implement and handle cost effective process improvements, capital, and operating expenditures, and cost-reduction program

  • Lead regular safety, lean, 5S inspections, review performance to targets, and pursue root cause analysis and countermeasure steps

  • Participate in sales, inventory, and operations planning sessions to develop operations objectives in support of

  • organizational goals and customer support

  • Model high standards of honesty and integrity, and assure others think and act similarly

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Prior plant management experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical, engineering, or business discipline; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

  • Ten (10) years of operations and/or business-related experience and consistent track record of progressive levels of leadership in business, technical or manufacturing management roles

  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation ability with a focus on the customer

  • Strong analytical and data leadership skills

  • Strong social skills enabling collaboration in a team-oriented environment

  • High-quality decision making even in the face of uncertainty or when incomplete information is available

  • Hands-on leader who possesses a high level of drive, integrity, accountability, and energy to connect with all levels of employees

  • Legal work authorization in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role

  • Occasional travel for trainings, meetings and events up to 15% of the time

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Experience with customer-facing engagement

  • Graduate-level education in business, technical or engineering field

  • Relevant business insight into the HVACR industry and customer needs

  • Experience with the deployment of automation

Our plant in Lebanon, MO is Copeland’s flagship operation for scroll compressor assembly and a machining powerhouse for main bearing housings and scroll elements, with over 60 million scroll compressors produced in the past 27 years.
