Summary
: The Performance Lab Technician will conduct performance testing of compressors from production lines and customer line returns to ensure compliance with established quality specifications.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform BIR (Break-in Stand) and Performance Testing on compressors.
- Utilize data from PPT, CATS, CPID quality databases to perform job responsibilities.
- Identify, contain, and communicate non-conforming compressors from the lab.
- Utilize scanner system to track compressors in CPEL database for oracle.
- Perform Cold Trap Testing.
- Perform (TTS) testing on compressors charged with Refrigerant.
- Must identify, handle and transport various types of refrigerant/chemicals.
- Performs verifications and gauge RandRs on lab equipment.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow established guidelines to implement and maintain quality systems for defect prevention.
- Ability to analyze control charts, identifying sources of variation, and solve out-of-control conditions.
- Assists manufacturing engineers in qualification of machines through process capability studies and performs other key non-routine quality checks.
- Ability to ensure that all gauges and instruments with designated area are calibrated.
- Ability to work with statistical methods to assure the repeatability of gauges.
- Communicates effectively with Operations, Technical and Quality teams.
- Self-Directed, using initiative to perform various troubleshooting, repairing and preventative maintenance functions.
- Ability to utilizes compressor nomenclature to perform necessary duties safely.
- Understanding of compressor (Electrical and Mechanical) operation.
- Ability to navigate and utilize computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams etc.).
- Ability to work different shifts during training periods, absences, vacation and overtime.
Education and Experience:
- Two-year manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- One-year certificate from college or technical school.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, grasp, handle, or feel: stoop, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must be able to climb stairs, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
