Shenandoah University Principal Faculty- PA in Leesburg, Virginia

The Shenandoah University Division of Physician Assistant Studies is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a faculty position based at our campus in Loudoun County.

The Physician Assistant (PA) Program Faculty member is responsible for a wide range of academic and administrative tasks to support the PA program. This includes accreditation activities, admissions, curricular and programmatic planning, teaching, and various other duties aimed at ensuring the program's success and students' academic and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

Accreditation and Admissions:

  • Participate in accreditation activities.

  • Participate fully in the candidate review process, select applicants for admission to the program, and review the admission process.

    Curricular and Programmatic Planning:

  • Design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the curriculum.

  • Regularly evaluate the program and revise missions, goals, and competencies as necessary

    Teaching and Student Support:

  • Provide direct student instruction in the didactic phase of program and evaluate student performance.

  • Develop syllabi, lesson plans, course schedules, and evaluation instruments.

  • Distribute course materials and administer evaluations.

  • Recruit and orient guest lecturers, monitor their classes, and handle related administrative tasks.

  • Advise and counsel students academically within areas of competence.

  • Ensure availability of remedial instruction.

  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and adhere to division and university standards and policies.

    Administrative and Professional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Division and University committees.

  • Attend faculty and division meetings and represent the University or Division to outside agencies as needed.

  • Develop evaluation processes for adjunct faculty and recommend modifications to curricula based on annual evaluations.

  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures of the University and Division.

  • Maintain certification, licensure if clinically active.

  • Participate in scholarly activities for personal and professional development.

  • Assist in developing new clinical rotation experiences and maintaining relationships with clinical affiliates.

Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited PA program

  • Terminal Academic Master Degree

  • Minimum 2 years of current clinical practice experience

  • Current NCCPA certification and eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to effectively deliver and receive constructive feedback

  • Ability to work effectively to resolve conflict

  • Ability to effectively engage with students, faculty, staff, and administrative leadership

  • Competence in the following software: Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google Suite, Canvas

Required Experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in PA education and/or clinical precepting

  • Demonstrated experience with or commitment to working with students, colleagues, and community members from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds

  • Two or more years teaching in a university setting
