Job Title: Civil Construction Instructor

Location: Lehi, UT

Status: Part-time

Hours: Flexible evening hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Pay / Hourly: $35.00 - $38.00

Mountainland Technical College is hiring for a part-time Evening Civil Construction Instructor. This role is perfect for a current construction professional, such as a superintendent or construction manager, who is passionate about mentoring the next generation of civil construction experts. You'll deliver an established, hands-on curriculum designed to prepare students for immediate employment in the civil construction industry. This flexible position allows you to work after hours and coordinate with corporate partners for on-site visits and simulator sessions.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction:

  • Deliver and enhance the existing comprehensive curriculum, focusing on hands-on competencies.

  • Assess and mentor students to ensure they gain the necessary skills and knowledge for civil construction careers.

  • Use lesson plans and performance evaluations to facilitate learning in classroom and lab settings.

  • Emphasize safety practices as a core component of daily instruction.

    Student Engagement:

  • Provide regular feedback and support to students, fostering their success.

  • Manage student progress and attendance records using NorthStar.

  • Utilize the Learning Management System to support hybrid instruction and maintain confidentiality of student information.

    Program Activities:

  • Coordinate with corporate partners for on-site visits and simulator time.

  • Maintain updated student contact information and track their placement in the industry.

  • Participate in program evaluation surveys and advisory committee meetings.

  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of classrooms and labs.

    Professional Development:

  • Stay current with advancements in the civil construction industry and participate in professional development opportunities.

    Marketing:

  • Promote the Civil Construction program to attract potential students.

    Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 5 years (10 years preferred) of journey-level experience in civil construction.

  • Expertise in measurements, soils, earthwork, utilities, and construction safety procedures.

  • Ability to teach effectively and interact professionally with students, parents, and industry representatives.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

    Competencies

  • Team leadership and collaboration skills.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe, Avid, ADP, Canvas, and NorthStar.

  • Dedication to student success and professional standards.
