DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position performs clerical duties such as preparing, proofreading, and distributing letters, reports, and varied correspondence for: Highway Equipment Manager (HEM2), Roadway Programs Coordinator (RPC), Assistant Highway Maintenance Managers (AHMM), Automotive Mechanic Supervisor (AMS), and at other times, County or District Office staff.

The Clerical Assistant 2 will determine appropriate person, area, and response method to inquiries while ensuring written messages are delivered promptly. Types and distributes a variety of correspondence based on the type of document and work unit process the assignment requires.  Inputs information into appropriate departmental systems, electronically or manually.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Hours may vary during emergency operations. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $34,621 (before taxes). Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or Graduation from high school; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements: One year or more of prior employment in the clerical field. One year or more of experience using Microsoft Office products. Two years or more of customer service background (answering telephones and speaking with customers and/or employees in the office). You must be able to perform essential job functions. This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
