Responsibilities

Work Schedule:

Coverage shifts available: Monday - Friday, 3pm - 11pm and Weekends/Holidays, 8am - 4pm

No Call, No Call-Back

Job Specific Position Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

CORE Duties:

• Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.

• Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.

• Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.

• Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.

• Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.

• Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures and participating in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols.

Duties- Specific:

In addition to the duties listed in the basic contract, the following additional or supplemental duties are required for HCWs on this TO. The duties for the HCW are as follows but not limited to:

• The HCW shall provide services within the scope of the clinical privileges granted by the MTF Director, the applicable duties provided in the basic contract, and the following:

• Diagnosis and treatment of urgent and non-urgent diseases and injury to all body organs and systems of patients in the neonatal to geriatric population.

• Respond to medical emergencies within the hospital until the Medical Officer of the Day arrives.

• Recognize patients that require care beyond the capability of the MTF and arrange and coordination the emergent transportation to other medical facilities.

• Summon the appropriate on-call medical officer when deemed necessary and continue medical management until the on-call medical officer arrives and assumes care of the patient. The HCW shall document arrival of the medical officer and assumption of the patient’s care. The Urgent Care Clinic physician is responsible for the patient until the patient is discharged or admitted by the on call medical officer.

• Prescribe medications as indicated. The Urgent Care Clinic physician may dispense pre-packaged medications only in accordance with policies and procedures of the MTF.

• Conduct all referrals in accordance with the MTFs policies and protocols. The Urgent Care Clinic physicians do not have admitting privileges.

• Refer stable patients to specialty clinic services within the MTF when the patient’s treatment requirements are beyond the capability of the Urgent Care Clinic or beyond the scope of this contract. The HCW is not responsible for scheduling appointments for such referrals. Referrals shall be made in accordance with MTF instructions, which will be provided by the Government upon contract award. All referrals outside of the MTF will be made according to the MTF pre-established guidelines.

• Document all referrals in the patient’s medical record and in automated data systems used by the MTF following MTF policies and procedures.

• Initiate recommendations for Sick-in-Quarters (SIQ) and duty modifications for active-duty personnel in accordance with MTF instructions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Education: M.D.

* Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in a Family Practice setting, or Urgent Care, within the past 5 years

* License: Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state

* Board Certification: Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Emergency Medicine, the American Board of Family Practice or the American Board of Pediatrics or by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians, or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Physicians. Pediatricians must be able and willing to provide primary care services to adults without requiring consultation with other providers on a regular basis.

* Life Support Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required

* Security: Must be able to pass a Government background check and obtain a Government security clearance.

Pay Scale: $140/hr to $200/hr, to be determined based on employment options, qualifications, experience, and location
