Position Overview

Kiewit has an exciting new opportunity for a Commissioning & Startup (CSU) Engineer to work with our growing Industrial & Water Group!

The CSU Engineer primarily participates in the development and execution of planning and field activities spanning from FEL and Detailed Design Phases of a project through to completion. This role is located in Lenexa, KS, with the opportunity for flexible work . The applicant should possess some experience in Industrial processes (either design or operation) and desires further exposure to range of mining and mineral processes for commodities, which may include various forms of Lithium, Gold, Silver, Copper, Soda Ash, and Rare Earth elements.

Location

Our Industrial group is headquartered out of Lenexa, KS. The successful candidate is available to travel to our project sites across the US.

Responsibilities

The CSU Engineer will participate in the following project activities, as required. 

  • Support the Commissioning Manager and Sr. Commissioning Engineer as well as the greater commissioning team in the safe and efficient execution of commissioning projects

  • Participate in project design reviews during design development

  • Assist with development of the Commissioning estimates, proposals and bid documentation

  • Assist with development of all commissioning documentation including (but not limited to) execution plans, system Commissioning procedures, construction / commissioning check-sheets and project schedule.

  • Assist with development of facility pre-startup procedures (nitrogen leak testing, nitrogen purging, vessel initial fills, production train circulation, etc.)

  • Assist with systems completion strategy definition at project kickoff and support systems completion activities as required

  • Track and report progress on commissioning activities

  • Identify commissioning issues and proposed resolution

  • Develop Technical Queries and follow through on resolution

  • Interface effectively with stakeholder groups to maintain synergy with project teams

  • Assist with development of operating manuals

  • Issue weekly updates (as required)

  • Responsible for adhering to policies and procedures in a positive manner

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Should possess an Engineering degree or equivalent experience and have an interest in Industrial Facilities and emerging markets

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in commissioning and/or Design within the market segment.
