This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Supervise workers in calibration standards, procedures, and studies to increase accuracy and effectiveness of the calibration program. Responsibilities Serve as TMDE Supervisor responsible for supervising workers, directly or through leaders, in the calibration and repair of a wide range of calibration standards. Participate in studies and tests to determine limitations of test equipment; and functions designed to increase the accuracy and effectiveness of the assigned calibration and repair program. Adapt, modify, develop and implement technical procedures required by changing user or equipment requirements, certifying high precision calibration laboratory standards. Analyze work operations and make changes in work assignments or equipment layouts to assure timely accomplishment of assigned workload. Maintain liaison with other segments of the U.S Army TMDE Support Activity (USATAG) and customer needs to insure an effective and efficient program. Provide workload forecasts for budget and rate development, and budget requirements for manpower, contracts, supplies, training and travel. Execute a full range of administrative and personnel management supervisory responsibilities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) and Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DOD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) PRECISION MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT CALIBRATOR SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator Supervisor duties. I can 1) provide guidance in the full range of calibration and repair operations on precision measurement equipment; 2) adapt procedures for diverse and complex calibration assignments; 3) advise on troubleshooting techniques and practices to diagnose and repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE); and 4) participate in studies to determine limitations of test equipment; and functions designed to increase the accuracy and effectiveness of the assigned calibration and repair program. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
