JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse is an essential member of the patient care team, responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care. In this role, the RN will be responsible for working alongside an interdisciplinary team to provide day-to-day care of children and adolescents, ages 6-18, in an inpatient Adolescent behavioral unit. The primary diagnosis' that are treated are major depression and ADD/ADHD. He/She will be responsible for medication administration and education, daily documentation of patient care, and managing/monitoring behaviors throughout the unit. Additionally, the RN will participate in and lead education groups.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required

  • Valid State of Maine RN license required

  • BLS certification required

    EXPERIENCE

  • 1-3 years previous nursing experience working with children and adolescents preferred

  • At least 1-year previous nursing experience required

    OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Communication on a variety of levels: Patients, families, providers, coworkers

  • Ability to in (at times) stressful situations and manage stress appropriately

  • Ability to set strong professional boundaries

  • Dedicated team player

  • Self-directed, able to stay busy in downtime
