In this position. the Scientist will support development of new grease products for Valvoline's next generation of products including automotive, heavy duty, industrial, and electrical vehicle (EV) applications. The Scientist will support our lead grease formulator for product development by completing lab blends, designed experiments, rheology/analytical testing, specialized performance testing and analysis/reporting of generated data. They will participate in a zero-incident safety culture by following safety procedures, PPE requirements and chemical hygiene plans.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Complete lab blends and designed experiments to develop and evaluate the performance of grease products

  • Monitor production batch quality data, enter data into digital quality system and generate reports

  • Develop procedures for and execute scale up operations for pilot plant grease production

  • Develop and maintain test procedures to stay current industry and aligned with industry standards

  • Training and task oversight of contract scientists and interns

  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering (Chemistry, Biology or related field is preferred)

  • Hands-on working experience in an analytical laboratory is required

  • Working knowledge of benchtop testing techniques and industry standards (ASTM) is preferred

  • Strong chemical lab work aptitude, analytical skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and good team working skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • This role’s primary work environment is in the laboratory requiring standing and manipulating laboratory equipment and materials. Ability to lift 35 pounds is required.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
