Kentucky Blood Center System Administrator II (On-Site) in Lexington, Kentucky

KBC is seeking a System Administrator II. The ideal candidate will maintain the overall operations of the server and virtual environments by monitoring resources and implementing changes or repairs as necessary. Reports to the Vice President of Information Technology (VPIT).
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Operates collaboratively with other members of the System Administrator team and the IT department to meet functional objectives and maintain service levels.
Establishes system specifications by:
Analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements.
Designing and maintaining systems administration, including interface configuration.
Establishes and maintains server and virtual systems by:
Evaluating system performance issues including availability, utilization and throughput.
Planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment.
Administers system security and user access; maintains email applications.
Monitors overall health of the environment including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file security and accessibility; reports issues and keeps VPIT and Senior System Administrator III apprised of concerns and potential risks.
Performs and monitors data backups for integrity, completion, and disaster recovery operations.
Performs troubleshooting for problems with physical and virtual systems, and for basic network connectivity.
Provides user support and fulfills help desk functions as needed, assisting employees with IT issues.
Provides reports and queries, upon request.
Upholds department operational and security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Researches, recommends, and implements approved solutions for area of expertise.
Fulfills other responsibilities and participates in special projects as assigned.
Participates in department on-call rotation.
Working Environment & Physical Effort This position requires the ability to:
Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
Carry out basic clerical duties (typing/writing) for extended periods of time.
Occasionally lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
Occasionally bend or reach to perform various job tasks.
Safely ascend/descend a ladder.
Analyze complex situations and make sound decisions.
Adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
Occasionally travel to carry out essential job functions.
Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Computer Science and industry certifications preferred; significant IT-related work experience with HS diploma/GED required, with appropriate combination of education and experience.
2 years of relevant experience with demonstrated knowledge in the administration of systems, with emphasis on access control and security management, and server maintenance.
General familiarity with networking, help desk, records management, and other IT department functions; must have basic understanding of VLANs and IP routing.
Customer service skills and scheduling flexibility required, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task service requests in a fast-paced environment.
Valid KY driver's license with clean driving record; requires periodic travel to satellite locations.
Proof of education/certifications required during the interview process.
