School Foodservice Worker Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities: * Food Preparation: Prepare all food and menu items according to established recipes and guidelines, ensuring quality and consistency. * Meal Service: Serve meals to students and staff in a fast paced and friendly manner. * Cash Handling: Operate the cash register, handle transactions accurately, and maintain proper cash handling procedures when required. * Cleaning and Maintenance: * Perform cleaning duties, including dishwashing, pot washing, and sanitizing equipment and work areas. * Ensure cafeteria equipment is properly cleaned and maintained. * Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors promptly. * Food Setup and Safety: * Set up hot and/or cold food areas before meal service. * Regularly check and record food temperatures to comply with food safety standards. * Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of food to prevent contamination. Additional Responsibilities: * Compliance and Recordkeeping: * Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines. * Assist in maintaining accurate meal counts and records for compliance and reimbursement purposes. * Complete paperwork related to inventory, ordering, or other operational needs. * Meal Customization: * Prepare meals that meet USDA nutritional standards and accommodate special dietary needs or restrictions. * Assist with portion control to ensure consistent servings. * Prepare and package meals for delivery or takeout when applicable. * Customer Service: * Interact positively with students, staff, and visitors to create a welcoming atmosphere. * Respond to student and staff inquiries about menu items, including ingredient and allergen information. * Encourage students to make healthy food choices. * Team Collaboration: * Work collaboratively with other team members to support the overall operation. * Attend staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed about policy updates and safety practices. * Assist in training new employees as needed. * Flexibility: * Adapt to varying schedules and work in different school locations as required. * Support other team members during busy times or special events.
