MIT Lincoln Laboratory Maintenance Engineer in Lexington, Massachusetts
The Facility Services Department is focused on maintaining a safe, clean and effective environment for the Laboratory community as well as providing the infrastructure that supports the research initiatives in a high quality, and cost-effective manner. The Operations & Maintenance team within FSD engage in the maintenance and repair of electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems, as well as custodial, grounds, construction, transportation and more.
Under direction of Plant Manager successful candidate shall:
Create and assign maintenance plans for all laboratory assets under the stewardship of FSD/O&M within the SAP maintenance module.
Shall ensure that information regarding these assets is input in the SAP maintenance module and is continually updated. This effort will require field work, including photographing assets, gathering nameplate data and labeling equipment which will require climbing ladders and the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time in the elements.
Shall provide input to Infrastructure planner regarding FSD equipment renewal Program database.
Shall maintain and store tests/inspections/balancing reports/warrantees etc. within SAP maintenance module for individual assets and systems.
Shall assist in creating and managing outside vendor maintenance and service contracts in support of the contract’s office
Shall contact and schedule all PM work performed by outside service support vendors, including scheduling guard support and escort if required.
Shall work with operations, supervisors and facility engineers to add or delete maintenance plans to support special projects.
Shall reference all EHS policies and procedures including lock out tag out, SP-12 safety permits, wearing proper PPE when creating maintenance plans.
Shall assist in developing KPI’s in an effort to identify areas of improvement regarding efficiency, equipment requiring attention and prioritization of its replacement.
Shall assist in planning both Spring and Autumn maintenance shutdown weekends and other possible events that would fall outside normal work hours. This would involve creating an excel spreadsheet with a list of activities leading up to the shutdown.
Emergency response during “off-hours” may be required to insure employee and/or facility safety and operational continuity.
Job Requirements:
Experience in facility maintenance and construction within a research environment is desired, having equivalent years of facilities experience and other education will be considered.
Shall be proficient in the use and navigation of an equipment/maintenance management system preferably SAP.
Must have an overall knowledge of facilities maintenance and operations, including design and construction and operation of utilities including electricity, steam, domestic water, CHW and sanitary services.
Must be able to read and understand construction documents, including drawings and specifications. Must have knowledge of Building Management Systems including the Andover Continuum, Struxureware and Automated Logic Systems.
Must be organized and possess excellent administrative, oral and written communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
