Island School Development Associate in Lihue, Hawaii

DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

Island School seeks a Development Associate as a critical team member of Island Schools Development Office. Reporting to the Interim Director of Development, the successful candidate will build relationships with members of the community to garner philanthropic support for Island School. Fund raising activities include preparing proposals for grants; maintaining development database; helping organize various fund-raising events; working with volunteers; meeting with prospective donors; preparing drafts of reports for the Board of Directors; working closely with business office to reconcile and record gifts and grants; assisting with data entry, marketing, public relations, printed materials, proofing, final reports; and performing other duties as may be assigned in relation to support of Island School. Salary range: $50,000 - $59,000 depending on experience

.Island School is located on the island of Kaua'i, the northernmost inhabited island of the Hawaiian Island chain, which, due to its stunning natural beauty, is known as the "Garden Island."

Qualifications include:

  • Skills/Knowledge: Must work well with a variety of constituents in person, using email, through letters and memos, and by phone; also, must be able to use technologies, including word processing, relational data-bases, and online tools; also, must be familiar with grant-writing processes, including a statement of need, an indication of activities to be undertaken, and the development of a budget using categories required by granting agencies
  • Education/Training: Bachelor?s degree preferred. Minimum requirement: familiarity with development office operations and with computer programs related to development work
  • Experience: References from a previous employer(s) certifying reliability and satisfactory performance is desirable.
