EchoStar Aircraft Operations Engineer in Lisle, Illinois

EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an Aircraft Operations Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division . This role will be located at our office in Lisle, IL, or Germantown, MD.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and resolve aircraft connectivity issues utilizing a holistic understanding of the system, including hardware, software, and network requirements.

  • Serve as an escalation point for tier 1 technical support teams.

  • Track hardware failures and work closely with the reliability team to implement long-term solutions.

  • Utilize various data sources, such as performance metrics, tickets, and system logs to identify systemic failure trends.

  • Define automation requirements to optimize tools and improve operational effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Act as a bridge between engineering, development, and program management to foster collaboration and alignment between critical departments.

  • Work on-call, which can include nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 team.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, aviation, a similar field or a combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years of technical operations experience, ideally from an aviation-centric or satellite communications provider.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Satellite Communications systems experience (GEO, MEO, LEO), as a service provider

  • Aviation software and hardware experience in installation, maintenance, and repair

  • Network Operations background with major service provider experience

  • Operations Management background from education or work experience

  • Airline maintenance experience

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.

Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $84,000.00 - $120,000.00
