Systems Engineering Intern – Summer 2025

Our Systems Engineering team is dedicated to innovation and excellence in the automotive/trucking industry. We focus on developing advanced systems that enhance vehicle performance, safety, and efficiency of our truck , bus & powertrain products .

About the Intern Program

  • 12 week program with start dates on: May 12 or 19 or June 2

  • 40 hours per week

  • Must graduate between December 2025 - May 2027

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and integration of complex vehicle systems, including electrical, mechanical, and software components

  • Support the creation and maintenance of system requirements, specifications, and architecture documentation

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of vehicle systems

  • Participate in system-level testing and validation to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations

  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of system issues in prototype and production vehicles

  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations

Minimum Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. International Motors does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B or F-1 status)

Desired Skills

  • Minimum required cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Critical thinking and problem solving

  • Previous internships or work experience is a plus

  • Ability to work independently

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices

  • Proficiency in systems modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly

  • Previous internship or project experience in the automotive or commercial vehicle industry is a plus

Benefits and Compensation

  • The expected compensation hourly pay ranges for hires into our 2025 campus intern openings is $24 - $38/hour.

  • Hourly pay is based on year in school and is non-negotiable.
