ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the transmission engineering portfolio of projects, including initial project discovery, scoping, development, coordination, and execution.

  • Directly supervises and leads direct reports, including monitoring performance, coaching and mentoring, disciplinary actions and assuring a high level of work quality.

  • Coordinates Transmission Engineering activities in support of the AECC Planning and Economic Development departments’ working with our Member Cooperatives and External Entities on potential projects.

  • Coordinates engineering discovery activities with external entities such as Entergy, AEP, Liberty, SWPA, city municipalities, MISO, and SPP for potential new projects.

  • Coordinates with AECC Operating Districts and Power Delivery – Maintenance & Reliability department to plan and develop operations, maintenance and upgrade projects requiring Transmission Engineering support or designs.

  • Oversees all projects requested by Transmission Engineering

  • Interfaces with Power Delivery – Project Managers as needed to maximize efficiencies with various transmission related projects.

  • Collaborates with Principal Transmission Engineers in their development of conceptual designs for potential projects.

  • Collaborate with Transmission Engineering Supervisors to align the overall project portfolio resource needs with engineering resource capacity plans.

  • Oversees the Transmission Engineering department capital budgeting processes and monitors and provides guidance to progress to annual budget.

  • Participates in developing Transmission Engineering department strategies and executes strategy within scope of responsibilities.

  • Oversee the development and reporting of Transmission Engineering metrics.

  • Ensures during project development and scoping that plans and concepts are reviewed by responsible engineers for alignment with AECC and External Entity transmission engineering standards.

  • Works with AECC Procurement and Power Delivery to establish and maintain an adequate stock inventory of commonly used equipment and materials specified by Transmission Engineering.

  • Prepares Request for Proposal documents needed for acquiring outside engineering services and evaluates submitted proposals.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Represents the Transmission Engineering department in a professional and ethical manner to all internal teams, Member Cooperatives, Consultants, Suppliers, and all other External Entities. Delivers superior customer service to internal and external customers.

  • The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.

  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

  • Due to our obligation to provide affordable, responsible, and reliable electric service to our member cooperatives, the ability and willingness to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited engineering program plus a minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in the state of Arkansas or within 12 months of start date.

Professional Engineering (PE) License in the state of Arkansas or within 18 months of start date or eligibility.
