Pulaski County Special School District Speech Language Pathology Assistant in Little Rock, Arkansas

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Sciences from a recognized University

  • Some clinical experience with school age and/or preschool age children

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL: Conduct a variety of tasks under the direct and indirect supervision of the licensed and certified speech-language pathologist(s).

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide drill and practice in accordance with a plan designed by the supervising speech-language pathologist(s).

  2. Record correct/incorrect productions.

  3. Complete informal progress notes for sessions.

  4. Review progress notes with supervising speech-language pathologist(s).

  5. Transfer progress notes onto Medicaid documentation forms.

  6. Assist with conference paperwork and filing.

  7. Maintain therapy room and supplies.

  8. Prepare therapy materials as directed by the supervising speech-language pathologist(s).

  9. Assist the supervising speech-language pathologist(s) with large groups such as integrated therapy and inclusion classes.

  10. Update computer information on students receiving speech-language therapy.

  11. Escort students to and from speech-language therapy sessions.

  12. Make phone calls to schedule screenings and conferences.

  13. Convert raw test scores [provided by the supervising speech-language pathologist(s)] to standard scores and percentiles.

  14. Transfer information provided by the supervising speech-language pathologist(s) onto a rough draft of the evaluation report.

  15. Update computer information on students receiving speech-language therapy.

  16. Participate in necessary trainings when required.

  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary Range: Range 1 - Support Staff Daily Salary Schedule ($182.62/day - $298.74/day depending on relevant experience)

Length of Contract: 187 contract days

FLSA Status: Exempt

Personnel Status: Classified

EVALUATION :

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
