This posting is for a summer intern position located in New Orleans, LA, Jackson, MS., or The Woodlands, TX. Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited degree program to be eligible for an internship.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

This role supports the Advanced Network Planning group within the System Planning Organization as part of the integrated system planning process to deliver desired customer outcomes. This includes analyzing and supporting the integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), energy storage systems, and other demand-side products and resources for the implementation of non-traditional solutions for constraints on the distribution system; supporting non-wire projects involving the transmission system; and assisting with resource planning and other special projects that help the company meet its sustainability goals.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the Advanced Network Planning group with day-to-day tasks.

  • Contribute as part of multidisciplinary teams with technical studies and analyses to arrive at optimized system planning outcomes that may involve non-wire alternatives.

  • Assist with a variety of system planning, modeling, analysis, and project oriented engineering activities.

  • Prepare documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and interoffice correspondence.

  • Conduct follow-ups in a detailed and timely fashion.

  • Handle multiple assignments and work within deadlines.

  • Be proactive in addressing/forwarding work issues to the appropriate engineer/supervisor/manager.

  • Work in a team environment in the advanced planning engineering group and cross functionally across the larger organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Pursuing undergrad or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
