The Work

As an Environmental Safety and Health Engineer with Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS), your role is pivotal in ensuring a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. Your responsibilities will encompass both operational and strategic aspects of the site's safety programs and the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) management system. You will also play a crucial role in supporting teams engaged in the Integrated Warfare Systems & Solutions (IWSS) Line of Business.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive environmental, safety, and health services to maintain a secure and compliant workplace.

• Focus on various safety areas, including Confined Spaces, Contractor Safety, Cranes & Slings, Fall Protection, Hazard Communication, Ladder Safety, Machine Guarding, Aerial lifts, Powered Industrial Trucks, and Raised Platforms & Scaffolding.

• Represent the organization at various levels, effectively conveying the company's strategy and objectives.

• Offer leadership and team support to ESH department members.

Who You Are

• Hold a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.

• Possess relevant certifications and training in safety and environmental management.

• Demonstrate hands-on experience in the specified areas of safety.

• Strong communication and leadership skills.

• Collaborative and able to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

• Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.

A level 2 employee is typically junior-career and has 1 to 2+ years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience implementing, OSHA, safety and health standards, EPA, state and local environmental

regulations and programs; to include legislation evaluation and interpretation.

• Ability to develop new and innovative methods to increase employee awareness of, and engagement in, ESH compliance programs/initiatives promoting a strong ESH culture across RMS while taking the initiative to challenge the status quo.

• Ability to analyze complex technical data from chemical data sheets and environmental health surveys using logic and quantitative reasoning.

• Ability to make oral presentations to persuade others to accept a specific action and or opinion, and provide information to explain procedures and policies.

• Skill in performing a variety of environmental health and safety duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.

• Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical reports to explain the results of

environmental health studies.

• Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

• Skill in working independently and following through on assignments.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and be flexible.

• Ability to track, trend and analyze data

• Experience implementing, OSHA, safety and health standards, EPA, state and local environmental

regulations and programs; to include legislation evaluation and interpretation.

• A demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and

interface with all company personnel

• Ability to travel occasionally

• Minimum requirements include, but not limited to, Lifting and Carrying up to 40 lbs and Pushing/Pulling of up to 75 lbs. and working from elevated platforms such as ladders as they relate to investigations and root cause analysis and corrective actions.

U.S Citizenship Required.

Desired Skills:

• Certified Safety Preprofessional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or eligible certification with the ability to apply understanding of principals of industrial hygiene and occupational health and safety to the tasks of environmental surveys and hazard recognition.

• Regulatory knowledge of the principles of Industrial Hygiene and the ability to design air sampling strategies, carry out sampling; interpret findings and lab reports, write technical reports and convey results to affected parties.

• Understanding of hazard analysis and risk assessments.

• Detailed knowledge of personal protective equipment requirements.

• Demonstrated ability to drive mission success and build effective relationships as a team or project leader

• Experience with ESH management system elements

• Experience reviewing facility and engineering designs, work instructions, and test plans for ESH

considerations

• Experience implementing leading indicator safety programs which drive participation by leadership and employees

• LM21 green or black belt or other continuous improvement tools and techniques knowledge

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington or Washington DC is $61,300 - $117,500. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $70,500 - $132,800. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
