JOB SUMMARY:

As part of this Magnet designated institution, and under the guidance of the director, you will oversee and coordinate all aspects of theElectrophysiology proceduresincluding recording systems and 3D mapping Carto ESI and ablation technologies, radiofrequency, cryoablation, etc.

Serves as a member of the Cardiovascular Service Line for Cooperman Barnabas Health Care system. In a coordinative role, he/she assumes responsibility for concurrent and retrospective data collection and analysis to identify quality assessment and resource management issues involving all disciplines. This includes, but is not limited to Cath, EP, PCI, CT Surgery and other procedures as assigned to count, collate, and report or analyze quality trends. Assists in the coordination, development and implementation of the PI Program for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Cardiac Surgery Program. As such, it is responsible for the timely completion and review of monthly PI projects for all assigned modalities. Coordinates Outcomes Review and department projects as assigned to meet JCAHO, ACC, STS and DOH Standards as well as system and departmental projects and initiatives. Evaluates effectiveness by assessing aggregate data and providing appropriate reports. When indicated, chair and coordinates focused on reviews based upon individual cases or trends in quality issues. Facilitates the management of information for presentation as needed. Assumes overall responsibility for preparation and coordination of outpatients undergoing invasive cardiac procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years Cath Lab/Electrophysiology procedures (EP) experience

EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Preferred Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support(BLS) Certification upon hire

  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification(ACLS) upon hire

  • Current New Jersey RN licensure is required.

  • Coordinates procedures with supporting medical device representative

  • Knowledge of Pacemaker and ICD procedures, extractions

  • Knowledge of Left atrial occlusion system Watchman

  • Coordination for Laser lead extractions in Hybrid OR

  • Responsible for training and educating new and current employees in EP,

  • Maintains inventory and participates in the ordering and maintenance of lab equipment,

  • Reports and acts on quality initiatives, while also collecting, reviewing, and entering data for ICD and Watchman registries,

  • Will scrub, monitor, and/or circulate EP cases,

  • Provides continuous communication among leadership, staff, and clinical leaders regarding patient care feedback and education for identified areas of need,

  • Follows compliance with departmental policies and procedures, while assisting leadership with policies and procedures to ensure standards are met,

Essential Functions:

  • The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.

  • The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of their own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others in the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e., damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.

  • The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, who utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs.
